Altar of Plagues go to Film School

Above is the first taste of the upcoming Altar of Plagues album, Teethed Glory and Injury. It’s rare for an underground black metal band to film a full-on music video, and this piece set to “God Alone” is appropriately bizarre. It plays like a short film about the trials and tribulations of, uhh, aerobics. Odd stuff for sure, but it complements the release’s cover art, plus the quick cuts of certain symbols are sure to look familiar to anyone who has spent any time on this site. The song itself is pretty different for the Irish horde, more dissonant and jarring than their more Cascadian fare and unless this is an edited version, it’s the shortest track they’ve ever written. I’m still trying to piece it together myself, but I’ll be pretty damn excited if the rest of the album is this different from older Altar material. Look for the new album on Profound Lore April 30.
